NBA Rules:
Traveling - a player travels by illegally moving their pivot foot or taking two or more steps without dribbling the ball.
Charging - Pushing or making significant contact with an opposing player that has their feet set.
Double dribble - A violation in which a player dribbles the ball, stops, then begins to dribble again.

Jargon

Triple Double - When three stats of a player are at double digits. (Assists, steals, blocks, rebounds, points)

Pick - When a player establishes a stationary position to block the path of the defender to their teammate.

Pump Fake - When a player fakes a shot to hopefully get the defender to bite, resulting in a much better, open shot.

Clichés

"Broke his ankles" - When a player crosses over his defender and the sudden change of direction cacausing him to fall. 

"He's on fire" - When a player is doing very well and it seems like the can't miss.

"From downtown" - When a player shoots the ball from outside the three point line.
